Dirt is OP Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to use a specific tool to break dirt blocks for loot?
No, any tool works—even your bare hand. The loot drops regardless of what you use to break the dirt, so you can start collecting rewards immediately without crafting anything.
Will dirt blocks in my existing world start dropping loot or do I need a new world?
The data pack works on any dirt block in any world once it's installed, so you can add it to existing saves and start breaking dirt right away.
What's the difference between breaking dirt in different biomes?
Dirt blocks drop the same loot regardless of biome—the location doesn't change what you get, only that you're breaking dirt blocks.
Can I farm dirt blocks faster by using a Fortune enchant or similar?
The data pack's loot drops are based on breaking the block itself; enchantments don't increase the frequency or quality of what you receive from dirt.
Does this work on coarse dirt or only regular dirt?
The data pack targets regular dirt blocks found in the overworld; coarse dirt and other dirt variants may not trigger the same loot drops.
Will this mod cause lag if I break a lot of dirt blocks at once?
Breaking many dirt blocks generates many item drops, which can impact performance on lower-end systems—consider breaking dirt in smaller batches if you experience lag.
Can I disable the data pack for certain areas or worlds?
You can remove the data pack from your world folder to disable it entirely, but the data pack itself doesn't have built-in options to toggle it for specific regions.
Does dirt still drop as a block when broken, or only the special loot?
The data pack replaces the normal dirt drop with special loot, so you won't collect dirt blocks themselves—only the rare gear and items.
Is there a limit to how much loot I can get from dirt, or does it work infinitely?
As long as dirt blocks exist in your world, you can keep breaking them and receiving loot—there's no built-in limit to how many times you can farm.
Will this data pack conflict with other mods or data packs that modify loot tables?
Data packs that modify the same loot mechanics may conflict; test them together in a backup world first to ensure they work as intended.
