Dark Bindings Recipe Disabler Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need the main Dark Bindings mod installed for this data pack to work?
Yes, this is a data pack designed to work alongside the Dark Bindings mod. Without the main mod installed, there will be no recipes to disable.
What happens if I rename a file wrong or use the wrong item name?
If the filename doesn't match an actual Dark Bindings recipe, the pack will simply ignore that file and the recipe will stay enabled. Check the supported items list to confirm the exact name you need.
Can I disable a recipe and then re-enable it later without removing the data pack?
Yes—delete or rename the .json file for that item (for example, change it back to Rename_me.json), then run /reload to re-enable the recipe.
Do I have to restart my server every time I disable a new recipe?
No, you only need to run the /reload command in chat to apply changes. A full server restart works too but isn't necessary.
Will disabling recipes affect items I've already crafted?
No, disabling a recipe only prevents new items from being crafted going forward. Items already in your inventory or world will remain.
Can I use this data pack with other data packs at the same time?
Yes, this pack can coexist with other data packs as long as they don't conflict with Dark Bindings recipes. Load order rarely matters for recipe disabling.
What if the item name I want to disable isn't on the supported list?
The supported items list covers all crafting additions from the Dark Bindings mod. If an item isn't listed, it's either not part of Dark Bindings or uses a different internal name—check the mod's documentation or ask in community forums.
Do the blank .json files need to contain anything, or must they stay completely empty?
They must stay completely empty and at 0kb in size. Adding any text or code will break the disabling function.
Can I disable recipes on a single-player world, or does this only work on servers?
This works on both single-player worlds and servers. Place the data pack in your world's Datapacks folder and run /reload just like you would on a server.
If I copy the data pack to a new world, do I have to set up the disabled recipes again?
Yes, you'll need to copy the data pack folder with all your renamed files into the new world's Datapacks folder. The disabled recipes don't transfer between worlds automatically.
