Enhance Lighting in Dark Underground Areas

Understand Coffee Shaders' Lighting Philosophy

Coffee Shaders uses ambient lighting and bloom to naturally brighten dark spaces without requiring extra light sources. The shader automatically detects cave environments and applies subtle illumination to make exploration more visible.

Place Strategic Light Sources

While the shader helps, adding torches, lanterns, or other light blocks still works as expected—they'll now cast realistic shadows and emit a warm glow. Place lights along cave walls and ceilings to create natural-looking illumination that the shader will enhance with bloom effects.

Adjust Ambient Light Settings

If caves still feel too dark, check the shader options for ambient light or cave brightness settings. Some versions allow you to increase the baseline lighting in shadowed areas without affecting the overall atmosphere.

Use Contrast to Your Advantage

The shader's warm glow actually makes lit areas feel more inviting in contrast to darker spaces. Rather than fighting the darkness, use it to create mood—place lights strategically to guide your path and highlight interesting features.
