Cobblemon Animated Pokemon Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why don't my Pokémon have animations after installing the mod?
You need to place the datapack in your world's datapacks folder AND the resourcepack in your game's resourcepacks folder, then activate it in Options > Resource Packs. Animations won't appear if either file is missing or the resourcepack isn't enabled.
Do all Pokémon get animations or just some?
Only specific Pokémon have custom animations—mainly starters and their evolutions, popular creatures like Pikachu and Greninja, and regional variants like Galarian Farfetch'd. Other Pokémon will use their default Cobblemon models without the new animations.
Can I use this with Mega Showdown or other Cobblemon add-ons?
Yes, this datapack is designed to work alongside Mega Showdown and will provide specialized animations for forms like Ash Greninja. Place both datapacks and resourcepacks in their respective folders.
What animations does this mod actually add?
The mod adds walking, running, idle stances, mid-air floating, physical strike attacks during combat, battle idle poses, signature move animations, and fainting sequences when Pokémon are defeated.
My Pokémon look different but I don't see them moving. What's wrong?
The resourcepack is likely active but the datapack isn't, or vice versa. Verify both files are in the correct folders and restart your world. You should see movement when your Pokémon walk, battle, or stand idle.
Do attack animations play automatically in battle or do I need to do something?
Attack animations play automatically during Cobblemon battles when your Pokémon use moves—you don't need to enable anything extra. If you don't see them, check that the resourcepack is activated and the Pokémon species is supported.
Will this mod slow down my game or cause lag?
The mod adds custom models and animations which may have a minor performance impact depending on your hardware, but it's generally lightweight since it only affects visual data. If you experience lag, try disabling other resource-intensive mods or lowering your render distance.
Can I see what Pokémon are supported before downloading?
Yes—the mod supports starters like Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip; classics like Pikachu and Gengar; and variants like Galarian Farfetch'd and Hawlucha. Check the full supported list in the mod's documentation for all available animated species.
Do I need to update my world or create a new one to use this mod?
No, you can add this datapack and resourcepack to an existing world. Just place the files in the correct folders and activate the resourcepack—your Pokémon will show the new animations immediately.
What does the wool detail on Hawlucha do?
Hawlucha's custom model includes cosmetic wool details as part of its remodel, which is purely visual and doesn't affect gameplay—it just makes the creature look more detailed and polished.
