Chunk Carts Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start a cart journey?
Place a minecart with a chest on your track, fill it with items, then push it or power it with redstone. The mod will automatically start loading chunks around the cart as it moves.
Why did my cart stop moving in the middle of nowhere?
The cart likely got stuck in a loop or hit an obstacle on the track. Check the track for breaks, powered rails that ran out of power, or if the cart is circling the same area—use `/chunkcarts list` to see its status and where it stopped.
Can I keep chunks loaded forever with a cart going in circles?
No, the mod has built-in loop detection that stops loading chunks if a cart travels in circles or gets stuck. You can adjust how far a cart travels before this triggers using the `progress-slack-chunks` setting.
Do I need to stay online for the cart to deliver items?
No, the cart will continue its journey and keep chunks loaded even when you log off, as long as the server is running. If the server restarts, the cart will resume from where it left off.
What happens if a cart gets stuck before reaching its destination?
All items stay safely inside the minecart chest—nothing is lost. You can retrieve the cart and its contents, fix the track, and send it again.
How do I see which carts are currently traveling and what chunks they're loading?
Use the command `/chunkcarts list` to view all active journeys, their current positions, and which chunks are being kept loaded.
Can I change how the mod loads chunks without restarting the server?
Yes, edit your configuration file and run `/chunkcarts reload` to apply the changes while carts continue moving without interruption.
Does this mod work with other mods that add custom minecarts?
The mod works with standard minecarts and minecarts with chests. Compatibility with custom minecarts from other mods depends on whether they use the standard minecart behavior—check your server logs or use `/chunkcarts debug` to see if issues occur.
What's the difference between strict mode and permissive mode?
Strict mode enforces stricter chunk loading rules, while permissive mode is more lenient. The exact behavior depends on your server's `enforcement` setting—adjust it based on how much control you want over chunk loading.
Can I require a player to be online before a cart starts its journey?
Yes, use the `departure-requirement` setting to decide whether a player needs to be seen or online for a cart to begin loading chunks and traveling.
