How to Breed and Raise Chocobos

Breeding Basics

Breeding chocobos requires two tamed adult chocobos and a supply of Gysahl Greens. Feed one Gysahl Greens to each chocobo in turn. When both are fed, hearts will appear and a baby chocobo will spawn. The baby inherits traits from its parents, so breeding selectively over multiple generations lets you improve your flock.

Raising the Baby

A baby chocobo cannot be ridden until it matures. Feed it Gysahl Greens periodically to speed up its growth and keep it healthy. Baby chocobos follow nearby adult chocobos, so keep the family together in a secure pen. Once the baby grows into an adult, you can saddle and ride it like any other tamed chocobo.

Managing Your Flock

Build a fenced enclosure with enough space for multiple chocobos. Use fences and gates to keep them contained. Always keep a chest nearby stocked with Gysahl Greens so you can feed, heal, and breed your chocobos without running back to your base. If a chocobo takes damage, feed it Gysahl Greens to restore its health before it dies. Breeding repeatedly is the most reliable way to build up a large number of chocobos for travel and farming.
