Locating Rift Valleys

Rift valleys spawn naturally in your world as massive, deep canyons. Unlike regular ravines, they extend far deeper—reaching down to Y-level -20. Look for them on the surface as dramatic cuts through terrain, especially visible in biomes like savannas and near cherry blossom trees.

Preparing for Descent

Bring plenty of blocks for building bridges or stairs, as rift valleys are extremely deep. Pack torches to light your way and mark your path so you don't get lost in the vast underground spaces. Water buckets are essential for fall damage prevention.

Exploring Safely

As you descend deeper into a rift valley, the surrounding cave systems expand significantly. The walls open into massive caverns with lava pools and valuable resources. Move cautiously near edges—the scale of these valleys makes falls dangerous. Use the expanding cavern spaces to set up mining camps or gather materials before heading back to the surface.
