Cavernous Lite Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to activate the mod after installing it?
No, Cavernous Lite Data Pack works automatically once installed—just load into a world and start exploring. New cave biomes will generate in newly created chunks, but existing caves in old chunks won't change.
Which cave biome spawns under my current location?
Cave biomes are determined by the surface biome directly above them, so deserts generate Arid Caves below, jungles generate Buried Jungle, snowy areas generate Icy Caves, and so on. You can check your surface biome to predict what you'll find underground.
How do I find ores in Icy Caves if they're hidden under ice?
Ores in Icy Caves are buried beneath ice blocks, so you need to mine or melt the ice above to see what's underneath. Look for slight variations in the ice surface or use a pickaxe to carefully break through and peek at the layer below.
Is it safe to dig straight down in Volcanic Caves?
No—Volcanic Caves have massive lava rivers and flowing water that can trap or kill you, so always dig carefully and watch for lava pockets. Bring water and fire resistance potions if you plan to mine diamonds in these caves.
Can I harvest the giant mushrooms in Fungal Caves?
Yes, the giant mushrooms in Fungal Caves can be harvested like normal mushrooms, including the ones hanging from the ceiling. Break the mushroom blocks to collect them, but watch out for the cave's other hazards while you're gathering.
Will this mod conflict with my other cave or terrain packs?
Cavernous Lite is designed for compatibility and rebuilds cave generation to work smoothly with other packs, but conflicts depend on what you're using. If you experience issues, try loading Cavernous Lite after other cave-related packs in your load order.
Where should I look for gold in Arid Caves?
Arid Caves spawn under hot biomes like deserts and badlands with extra gold ore distributed throughout the barren stone. Mine the stone blocks you find and watch for falling sand, which is a major hazard in these caves.
Do I need to find Volcanic Caves to get diamonds?
No, diamonds spawn in other cave biomes too, but Volcanic Caves have extra diamond ore, making them a good target if you're specifically hunting diamonds. However, the lava and flowing water make them more dangerous than other options.
What's the difference between this and the full Cavernous mod?
Cavernous Lite is a lighter version focused on cave biome generation and compatibility, while the full mod may include additional features or content. Both add new underground biomes, but Lite is optimized for players who want fewer changes.
Will the mod affect my performance or frame rate?
Cavernous Lite is designed to be lightweight and shouldn't cause major performance issues, but cave generation is always more demanding than flat terrain. If you experience lag, try reducing your render distance or checking for conflicts with other heavy mods.
