Route Players Between Multiple Servers Without Disconnect

How Player Routing Works

BungeeCord acts as a middleman between your players and your backend servers. When a player joins, they connect to the proxy address instead of individual servers. The proxy then forwards their connection to the appropriate backend server, and all traffic flows through it invisibly.

Setting Up Server Routing

1. Ensure all your backend servers are running in offline mode and placed behind a firewall so only BungeeCord can reach them.

2. Open the BungeeCord configuration file and add each backend server's address and port under the servers section.

3. Enable IP forwarding in the BungeeCord config, then enable it on every connected backend server in their server.properties file.

4. Start BungeeCord. Players now join using only the proxy address.

5. Use /server [servername] in-game to switch between backends instantly—no disconnect screen appears.

Testing Connectivity

Use /find [player] to confirm which backend server a player is currently on. Use /glist to see all players across your entire network. If a player can't switch servers, verify IP forwarding is enabled on both the proxy and that backend server.
