Enable or Disable Ambient Occlusion
Locate Ambient Occlusion Settings
Open your shader options menu and find the ambient occlusion (AO) section. This is often grouped with shadow or lighting settings.
Toggle and Adjust Intensity
Ambient occlusion adds subtle shadows to block edges, corners, and crevices, giving terrain more depth and definition. Toggle it on to enable this effect, or off to simplify visuals and improve performance.
If enabled, look for an intensity or strength slider. Increase it to make shadows in corners and edges more pronounced; decrease it for a gentler, more subtle effect that doesn't darken your world too much.
Performance Considerations
Ambient occlusion is moderately demanding on lower-end systems. If you experience frame rate issues, disable it or reduce its intensity rather than turning it off completely.
Test the effect in various lighting conditions—underground caves show AO most dramatically, while bright outdoor areas may make it less noticeable. Adjust based on where you spend most of your time playing.
