Boundless Realm Lockdown Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the dimension locks when I first load the world?
Type /function disable_dimensions:config in chat to open the settings menu, then click on each dimension (Nether, End, or custom realms) to toggle their locks on. By default, all locks are disabled until you activate them.
Can I lock just the Nether and leave the End open?
Yes—open the config menu with /function disable_dimensions:config and toggle individual dimensions on or off independently. You can lock any combination of realms you want.
What happens if a player tries to use a command to teleport to the Nether?
The pack blocks command-based teleports just like portal travel, sending the player back to their spawn point with a sound cue and action bar message. The lock applies to all travel methods, not just portals.
How do I unlock the End only after players collect a specific item?
Open /function disable_dimensions:config, click on the End dimension, and set an unlock rule based on player items. You can specify which item must be held and how many are required before the End becomes accessible.
Can I add a custom modded dimension to the lockdown system?
Yes—use the config menu to add custom modded dimensions by specifying their namespace and dimension ID. Once added, they work exactly like the default Nether and End locks.
What's the difference between setting a spawn location and using world spawn?
If you set a custom spawn with Replace, locked players return to that exact location; if you don't set one, they return to the world's default spawn point. Use Replace when you want players to retry portals from a specific hub or base.
Do players still get achievements when they're blocked from entering a realm?
Yes—the pack grants standard realm entry advancements (like 'We Need to Go Deeper' for the Nether) even when the portal blocks them, so players still earn credit for reaching the portal.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues on my server?
No—the pack runs passively with minimal tick overhead, so it won't slow down your server even with many players attempting portal travel.
Can I change the message players see when they're blocked from a dimension?
Yes—the config menu lets you customize the return message with color codes. You can make it match your server's theme or provide custom instructions.
If I turn off a dimension lock, do players keep their progress toward unlocking it?
The pack manages unlock conditions separately from the lock toggle, so turning a lock off and back on will preserve any progress players made toward meeting the unlock rules.
