Finding Your First Geode
Where to Look
Geodes spawn underground in caves and cavern systems, similar to how vanilla amethyst geodes generate. They're most commonly found in the Deepslate layer, so dig down to Y-level 0 or lower for the best chances. Lush caves also have a higher concentration of certain geode types.
Spotting Geodes
Look for large, spherical structures made of a single ore or block type embedded in stone or deepslate. The ore geodes will have a distinctive color—diamond geodes appear blue, copper geodes have a reddish tint, and emerald geodes glow green. Special block geodes like ice will stand out as bright white or translucent spheres.
When you find one, mine carefully from the outside in. The geode's interior is hollow or filled with the ore/block, so you can extract resources efficiently. Use a pickaxe appropriate to the ore type—a diamond pickaxe for most ores, or any pickaxe for special blocks like ice and slime.
Maximizing Your Search
Cave exploration is your best bet. Follow cave systems downward and listen for the ambient cave sounds. Larger caverns are more likely to contain geodes. If you're having trouble finding them naturally, consider creating a mining tunnel at deep levels and branching out systematically.
