How do I get my web chat working after installing the mod?
Install the plugin on your server, then configure it to connect to your BlueMap instance. Open your BlueMap web map in a browser—the chat box should appear on the page. If it doesn't show, check that the plugin is enabled in your server config and that BlueMap is running.
Do I need BlueMap to use the web chat or can I run it standalone?
You can run it either way. The plugin works embedded in your BlueMap web map, but you can also access a standalone chat-only page if you just want the messaging feature without the map.
How do guests view chat without logging in?
By default, guests can read all messages in the chat window without needing to log in. If you want to require authentication, you can enable login-only mode in the config, which forces visitors to enter an in-game authentication code before they can see or send messages.
What's the authentication code and how do I generate one?
An authentication code is a temporary token that links a player's Minecraft account to the web chat. Players generate one in-game using a command, then paste it into the web login screen to verify their identity and start chatting.
Can I embed images and videos directly in chat messages?
Yes—the plugin automatically previews images, videos, YouTube links, TikToks, and Twitter posts when you paste their URLs into chat. The preview appears inline so everyone can see the media without leaving the chat window.
How do I reply to a specific message instead of just sending a new one?
Click or tap the reply button on the message you want to respond to. Your reply will show a small preview of the original message, so everyone knows what you're referencing.
Can I use custom emojis and GIFs in web chat?
Yes, the plugin supports custom emojis and animated GIFs. You can paste GIF URLs or use emoji codes depending on how your server has configured the feature.
Does web chat connect to Discord?
If your server runs DiscordSRV, web chat messages will automatically relay to your Discord server and vice versa, keeping all your communities in sync.
What happens if I pin a message—can everyone see it?
Yes, pinned messages appear at the top of the chat window for all players and web visitors to see. Only admins can pin or unpin messages.
Can players upload files through web chat?
Yes, the plugin supports file uploads directly in the chat. The server owner can set file size limits and allowed file types in the config to control what gets uploaded.
