Exclude Specific Blocks from Blending

Why Exclude Blocks

Some blocks look better with sharp, defined edges—like decorative elements, ores, or specific building materials. Better Blending lets you prevent certain blocks from being blended while keeping the effect active everywhere else.

How to Exclude Blocks

1. Open config/better-blending.json in a text editor

2. Locate the block exclusion list (usually labeled excluded_blocks or similar)

3. Add the block ID of any block you want to keep sharp. Use the format Minecraft uses internally (e.g., minecraft:iron_ore, minecraft:oak_log)

4. Save the file

5. Reload your world or restart the game for changes to take effect

Tips

  • Exclude blocks that have intricate textures or are meant to stand out visually
  • You can exclude entire block families (like all ores) or individual variants
  • Check your mod's documentation or in-game tooltips to find exact block IDs if unsure
  • Test a few exclusions at a time to see what looks best in your world
