Once you've collected Phantom Membranes from bats, you can use them to repair damaged Elytra. Bring your worn Elytra and the membranes to a crafting table or your inventory crafting grid.

The Repair Process

Combine your damaged Elytra with Phantom Membranes using the standard Minecraft repair recipe. The exact number of membranes needed per repair follows vanilla Minecraft durability rules—each membrane restores a portion of your Elytra's durability.

This is much more convenient than waiting for Phantoms to spawn at night. You can repair your wings whenever you need to, simply by visiting caves to collect bats. This makes Elytra maintenance predictable and doesn't force you to stay awake or deal with hostile mobs in the sky.

Keep a supply of membranes in your base so you're never caught with a broken Elytra during exploration or travel.
