Astral Cinema Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I enable the shader after installing it?
Open your Video Settings in-game, select Shaders, and locate Astral Cinema Shaders in your shader folder. Click it to activate, then the changes will apply immediately to your world.
Why does my world look too dark or too bright?
Use the shader's settings menu (accessible from Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options) to adjust the overall brightness and exposure sliders to match your preference and monitor setup.
Can I use this shader with other visual mods like Complementary or BSL?
No—you can only use one shader pack at a time. If you want to switch between Astral Cinema and another shader, you'll need to change your active shader in Video Settings.
Does this shader work with Optifine and Sodium?
Astral Cinema Shaders requires Optifine to run. If you're using Sodium for performance, you'll need to switch back to Optifine, as Sodium uses a different rendering system that isn't compatible with most shader packs.
My FPS dropped a lot after installing this shader. How do I fix it?
Lower the shadow quality, reduce render distance, or disable advanced lighting effects in the shader options. You can also lower your overall Video Settings quality to improve performance while keeping the cinematic look.
Why do shadows look weird or blocky in certain areas?
This is usually caused by shadow resolution settings being too low or shadow distance being too short. Increase these values in the shader options, or adjust your Video Settings quality to improve shadow smoothness.
Can I use this shader on multiplayer servers?
Yes—shaders are client-side only, so they won't affect other players or cause server issues. Everyone on the server will see your world with your shader applied, but others won't see it unless they install it too.
How do I get the best cinematic look for screenshots and videos?
Enable the highest shadow quality and lighting detail settings, increase render distance, and use the shader's color adjustment options to enhance contrast and saturation. Position your camera during golden hour (sunrise/sunset) for the most dramatic lighting.
Does this shader support custom sky and weather effects?
Astral Cinema Shaders enhances the vanilla sky and weather with soft lighting and color adjustments, but doesn't add custom weather types. It works with rain, snow, and clear skies to create a cinematic atmosphere.
Why do water and glass look strange or overly reflective?
Adjust the water reflection and transparency settings in the shader options to reduce glare or reflectivity. You can also tweak the overall lighting intensity to make these transparent blocks blend better with their surroundings.
