Optimize Lighting for Underground Exploration
Configure Cave and Block Light
Access the shader options menu and locate the Lighting or Ambient Light section. Aquareal Shaders allows you to adjust how block light sources (torches, lanterns, glowstone) illuminate caves and enclosed spaces.
Balance Visibility and Atmosphere
- Ambient Brightness: Increase this value if caves feel too dark and you're straining to see details. Decrease it for a more atmospheric, challenging experience.
- Block Light Warmth: Adjust the color temperature of torches and similar light sources. Warmer tones create cozy underground bases; cooler tones feel more sterile.
- Shadow Depth in Caves: Control how sharply shadows fall from block light sources, affecting depth perception in tight spaces.
Test Underground
Descend into a cave system or create a test chamber with various light sources. Observe how torches, lanterns, and other luminous blocks interact with your settings. Adjust incrementally—small changes to ambient values have noticeable effects. Consider your monitor's brightness and gamma settings, as these influence how cave lighting appears in-game.
