Aquareal Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the shader after installing it?
Open your Video Settings in-game, select Shaders, and choose Aquareal Shaders from the list. The shader will activate immediately and you'll see the lighting and water changes take effect.
Why does my game look washed out or too bright during the day?
Check your shader settings for brightness and saturation sliders—you may need to lower them slightly. Also verify your monitor's gamma settings aren't conflicting with the shader's light passes.
Can I customize how water looks?
Yes, the shader includes options to adjust water reflection quality, wave intensity, and surface transparency. Access these through the shader settings menu while in-game.
My caves are too dark to see anything. How do I fix this?
Increase the ambient light value in the shader settings, or boost the brightness of block light sources like torches and lanterns. This will make underground exploration more readable without affecting outdoor lighting.
Is this shader compatible with other visual mods like connected textures or custom models?
Aquareal Shaders works alongside most texture and model mods, but can conflict with other shader packs or mods that heavily modify lighting. Run only one shader at a time.
Why is my FPS so low even though my PC is decent?
Disable shadow depth or reduce its quality in the shader settings, lower water reflection distance, and turn off bloom or blur effects if enabled. These settings have the biggest performance impact.
Do I need a specific graphics card for this shader?
Aquareal Shaders works on most modern GPUs, but performance depends on your card's VRAM and compute power rather than brand. Integrated graphics may struggle at higher settings.
Why do my shadows look blocky or pixelated?
Increase the shadow map resolution in the shader settings if your GPU supports it, or move closer to objects to see finer shadow detail. Very high resolutions may impact performance.
Can I use this shader in multiplayer servers?
Yes, shaders are client-side only and don't affect other players or server rules. Everyone sees their own version based on their shader settings.
What should I do if the shader causes lag spikes or stuttering?
Disable dynamic shadows or reduce their update frequency, lower water quality settings, and disable any post-processing effects like bloom. If stuttering persists, allocate more RAM to Minecraft.
