Adjust Water Appearance and Reflection Quality
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (typically found in your controls settings). Look for the Water or Surface section in the shader configuration panel.
Customize Water Behavior
Aquareal Shaders provides several water-specific adjustments:
- Wave Intensity: Control how pronounced the water surface waves appear. Lower values create calmer, glassier surfaces; higher values add more dynamic ripples.
- Reflection Strength: Adjust how much the surrounding terrain and sky reflect on water surfaces. This affects both clarity and realism.
- Surface Smoothness: Fine-tune the water's glossiness to match your preferred aesthetic between mirror-like and slightly diffused.
Test Your Changes
Navigate to different water bodies—oceans, rivers, and lakes—to see how your adjustments look across varied lighting conditions. Water appearance changes significantly between day and night, so test both. Return to the shader menu and make incremental adjustments until the water matches your desired visual style. Remember that your graphics card performance may be affected by higher reflection and wave settings.
