Animated Avatar Soul Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Where do I put my model files so the mod can find them?
Create a morpher folder in your game directory (same level as your mods folder), then organize files into subfolders: geo for your GeckoLib model files, textures for image files, and animations for animation files. Run /morpher reload after adding files so the mod loads them.
My model file is named correctly but won't show up in game
Make sure your model, texture, and animation files all share the exact same base name (for example, dragon.geo.json, dragon.png, and dragon.animation.json). Also verify the files are in the correct subfolders and run /morpher reload to refresh the mod's file cache.
Can I use models from other games or sources?
You can use any 3D model that's been converted to GeckoLib format (.geo.json files), but you'll need to ensure you have permission to use them and that they're properly formatted for this mod. Models from Bedrock Edition or other GeckoLib-compatible sources often work well.
How do I switch between different character models without restarting?
Use /morpher set model to instantly apply a different model, and use /morpher set texture to change its appearance. You can swap between any loaded models as many times as you want mid-game.
Do other players see my custom character on a multiplayer server?
Yes, custom models are visible to other players on multiplayer servers as long as they also have the mod installed. If they don't have the mod, they'll see your default player model instead.
What if my animation file isn't playing?
Verify that your animation file has the same base name as your model and texture files, is placed in the animations folder, and is in a format GeckoLib supports. Run /morpher reload and then use /morpher set anim to apply it.
Can I layer multiple textures or cosmetics on top of my base model?
Yes, the mod supports texture overlays and cosmetic layers that you can add on top of your base model to create unique looks. Check the guide on layering textures and cosmetics for detailed instructions on how to set this up.
What happens if I use a model that's too detailed or has too many animations?
Very complex models or heavy animation files can impact performance, especially on multiplayer servers or lower-end systems. Test your models in single-player first and consider optimizing polygon counts or animation complexity if you experience lag.
Do I need to restart my world after adding new model files?
No, you don't need to restart your world. Just place your files in the correct morpher folders and run /morpher reload to load them instantly while playing.
What if my model looks wrong or has missing parts?
Check that your texture file is correctly named and placed in the textures folder, and verify that your model file is properly formatted for GeckoLib. You can also try reloading with /morpher reload or refer to the troubleshooting guide for model visibility issues.
