An Origins Datapack Remnant Army Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I pick an origin and start playing?
Open your origins menu (default key varies by setup) and select one of the five machine origins: Ordnance, Upkeep, Engineer, Trerror, or a standard human origin. Once selected, you'll transform into that machine type and your food bar will switch to a fuel bar that depletes like hunger.
What counts as fuel and how do I eat it?
Burnable items like wood, coal, charcoal, and similar fuels restore your fuel bar when consumed. Simply eat them from your inventory like you would normal food—the mod redirects your food system to accept only fuel items.
Can I switch origins mid-game?
Yes, you can change origins through your origins menu at any time, but you'll transform into the new machine type and lose any benefits or abilities from your previous origin. Plan your switches carefully in multiplayer to maintain team composition.
I'm the Upkeep origin—how do I pick up passengers?
Fly close to teammates and they should be able to ride on you; the exact interaction depends on your mod setup, but typically they board automatically or via a keybind. Once aboard, passengers can use turret weapons and share your fuel pool.
What's the difference between the Ordnance and Trerror origins?
Ordnance is a flying attacker with homing missiles and bombs but takes extra fire damage, while Trerror is a heavy ground unit that moves faster on rails and uses an arc cannon. Choose Ordnance for air superiority and Trerror for ground control and rail-based mobility.
Why can't the Engineer origin jump normally?
The Engineer is trapped by magnetic tracks and can only jump on metal blocks, forcing you to build or find rail infrastructure to navigate. This limitation is balanced by your ability to heal allies and upgrade golems, making you a support unit rather than a solo fighter.
Does this mod work in single-player or only multiplayer?
The mod works in both single-player and multiplayer, though it's designed to shine in teams where different origins cover each other's weaknesses. Solo play is possible but you'll need to manage all roles yourself.
What mods do I need to run this datapack?
You must have the Origins mod and Pehkui installed; Origins provides the origin system and Pehkui handles the size scaling for different machine types. Without both, the datapack will not function.
Can I use this with other Origins datapacks?
Compatibility depends on whether other datapacks conflict with the machine origins or fuel system. Test them together in a world; if origins overlap or fuel mechanics clash, you may need to choose one datapack or disable conflicting features.
My fuel runs out too fast—how do I manage consumption better?
Avoid unnecessary flying or combat actions, stay near teammates who can share fuel (especially if you're with an Upkeep origin), and stock up on burnable fuel before long expeditions. Different origins consume fuel at different rates depending on their abilities.
