Understand Block Decay Chains

How Blocks Transform Over Time

Blocks don't simply vanish—they follow decay chains, converting from one block type to another in a sequence. For example, a wooden structure might degrade through multiple stages before eventually becoming dirt or grass. Stone and other solid blocks have their own specific decay paths.

Depth Affects Decay Speed

The mod applies different decay rates based on your Y-coordinate:

  • Near surface: Blocks decay quickly, making shallow structures vulnerable
  • Deep underground: Decay slows dramatically, protecting deep mines and bases

This means an abandoned wooden house at ground level will collapse into dirt much faster than the same structure built 50+ blocks below the surface.

Almost All Blocks Are Affected

The mod applies decay chains to nearly every solid block type, with one major exception: End dimension blocks remain unaffected. If you want permanent structures that never decay, consider building in the End as a long-term storage or memorial area.
