Upgrading Tools with Smithing Transform

Which Recipes Use Smithing

Most AIOT Botania recipes are shaped or shapeless crafting recipes, but two are smithing_transform recipes. Those two produce the Alfsteel Hoe and the Alfsteel Shovel. The Terra Hoe and Terra Spade are also part of the higher-tier tool set, alongside the Elementium AIOT and Manasteel AIOT.

Steps at the Smithing Table

1. Place a smithing table.

2. Open it and put the base tool in the first slot, the upgrade material in the second slot, and the smithing template in the third slot, matching the recipe shown in your recipe book.

3. Take the resulting Alfsteel Hoe or Alfsteel Shovel from the output slot.

If the smithing recipe does not appear, check that you are using the correct base tool and template combination. The Alfsteel Hoe and Alfsteel Shovel are the only two smithing_transform outputs in this mod, so any other upgrade you attempt will use a crafting table instead.

Filling Out the Toolkit

For a complete high-tier set, also craft the Elementium AIOT and Manasteel AIOT through their crafting recipes, and obtain the Terra Hoe and Terra Spade. Keep your Livingwood Shears or Livingrock Shears for leaf and wool work, since no AIOT covers shearing.
