Getting Started with AgriCraft: Your First Crops

Preparing the Soil

AgriCraft crops do not grow on vanilla farmland. You need to craft Crop Sticks and place them on top of Farmland blocks. Each Crop Stick occupies one block above a farmland block and acts as the growth medium for a single plant.

To plant, hold a seed or sapling and right-click the Crop Stick. The plant will establish itself on the stick. From this point, the crop grows through stages like any vanilla crop, but its growth is tracked and influenced by the stats system.

Water and Light

Crop Sticks require the farmland beneath them to stay hydrated. Place water within the standard four-block radius of the farmland, exactly as you would for wheat. If the farmland dries out, growth stalls. Light level requirements match the vanilla crop you planted — most need light level 9 or higher at the crop block.

Your First Harvest

When the crop reaches maturity, right-click the Crop Stick to harvest. You receive the produce plus, with some chance, additional seeds. Those seeds carry the stats of the parent plant. Replant them on fresh Crop Sticks to begin selecting for better traits. This is the core loop: plant, harvest, replant the best seeds.
