Actmos Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I switch between performance profiles?
Open the shader settings menu (usually Shift + O or through Video Settings > Shaders), then look for the Profile or Performance tier option. Select from Potato, Low, Medium, or High depending on your hardware, and the changes apply immediately.
Why does my water look weird or too bright?
Check the Water Quality setting in shader options—lower profiles use simpler water rendering. If reflections look broken, try disabling water reflections temporarily or lowering the reflection distance slider.
Can I use Actmos Shaders with OptiFine?
Yes, Actmos Shaders is designed to work with OptiFine. Make sure OptiFine is installed first, then place the shader pack in your shaderpacks folder and select it from the Shaders menu.
My frame rate drops when I look at the sky—how do I fix it?
Sky rendering can be expensive; try lowering the Sky Quality setting or disabling advanced sky effects in the shader options. Switching to a lower performance profile will also reduce sky-related overhead.
Do I need a good GPU for this shader to work?
No—Actmos Shaders includes Potato and Low profiles specifically for older or integrated graphics. You can get smooth gameplay on modest hardware by choosing the right profile for your machine.
Why do caves look too dark or too bright?
Adjust the Ambient Light or Cave Brightness slider in shader settings to match your preference. If caves are pitch-black, increasing ambient light will help; if they're washed out, lower it.
Can I use this with other visual mods like Complementary Shaders?
No—you can only have one shader pack active at a time. Uninstall or disable Actmos Shaders if you want to switch to another pack.
Why do some biomes look completely different from others?
Actmos Shaders applies different lighting and color grading to each biome for atmosphere. This is intentional and part of the mod's design—you can adjust global lighting in settings if a biome feels too extreme.
My game crashes when I load a world with this shader—what do I do?
Try switching to the Potato or Low profile first to rule out a performance issue. If crashes continue, check that your graphics drivers are up to date and that you're using a compatible Minecraft version.
How do I turn off specific effects like bloom or motion blur?
Open the shader settings menu and look for toggles or sliders for individual effects—most can be disabled or reduced independently. Disabling effects you don't want can also improve frame rate.
