How to Find and Brush Suspicious Blocks for Extra Loot

Locating Suspicious Blocks

Suspicious blocks appear naturally throughout reworked mineshafts as part of archaeology features. Look for them in excavated areas and along tunnel walls—they have a distinct appearance compared to regular stone and deepslate blocks.

Brushing for Rewards

Equip a brush and right-click on suspicious blocks to carefully extract hidden loot. Brushing takes time but won't destroy the block, allowing you to fully extract all items inside. The process is slower than mining but yields bonus rewards that standard mineshaft chests don't contain.

What You'll Find

Brushed suspicious blocks contain archaeology-exclusive items and materials not typically found in mineshaft chests. These rewards complement standard loot, making archaeology a worthwhile detour during exploration. Different mineshaft types (underground vs. Badlands) may contain slightly different archaeological finds.

Tips

Bring multiple brushes if exploring extensively, as they wear down with use. Take your time brushing—rushing won't speed up the process and may waste durability. Combine archaeology exploration with chest looting for maximum resource gathering.
