Exploring Underground Without Getting Lost
Plan Your Route
Before diving underground, identify landmarks on the surface. Note coordinates or use waypoints to mark your starting position. This prevents disorientation when surrounded by invisible terrain.
Navigate Using Visible Blocks
With natural blocks transparent, you can only see:
- Your own placed blocks (torches, markers, paths)
- Other players' structures (bases, builds, decorations)
- The void (empty space)
Place torches or blocks as you explore to mark your path back to the surface.
Stay Oriented
Keep track of direction using your compass or coordinates. The invisible terrain makes it easy to lose spatial awareness. Periodically check your position and heading.
Create Waypoints
Mark important locations:
- Entry points to bases or caves
- Intersections where multiple tunnels meet
- Your current base or home location
If you get disoriented, dig upward carefully or follow your torch trail backward. Always carry blocks to build an emergency exit if needed.
