How to Build a Basic XNet Network with Connectors and Cables

Place the Controller and Run Cable

Start every network with a Controller. Place it down, then attach a network cable to it. Use Blue Network Cable, Green Network Cable, Red Network Cable, Yellow Network Cable, or Routing Network Cable — pick one color per network and stay consistent, because cables of different colors form separate networks.

Run cable from the Controller to wherever you need connections. Cable carries the network signal; it does not connect to inventories by itself.

Attach Connectors to Inventories

At each machine, chest, or tank, place a Connector against the block you want to read from or insert into. The basic Connectors are Blue Connector, Green Connector, Red Connector, Yellow Connector, and Routing Connector. Match the Connector color to the cable color you ran. A Blue Connector only joins a blue network, a Red Connector only a red network, and so on.

Connect each Connector to the cable line so it becomes part of the Controller's network. Once a Connector touches both the cable and the target block, that block is now reachable by the Controller.

Confirm the Setup

With the Controller placed, cable run, and at least one Connector touching both cable and inventory, you have a working network. Add more Connectors along the same cable to bring more blocks in. If a block is not responding, check that its Connector color matches the cable color and that the Connector is actually touching the cable.
