Configuring Shadows for Different Biomes and Lighting

Understand Shadow Behavior by Light Source

Xelvora Shaders calculates shadows from the sun, moon, torches, and other light-emitting blocks. In bright biomes like deserts or plains, shadows are sharp and well-defined. In dense forests or underground, shadows stack and create darker pockets. This is intentional and helps you navigate varied terrain.

Adjust for Underground Mining

When mining deep, torch-lit shadows can feel harsh. Increase ambient light slightly through Shader Options if your mod supports it, or reduce shadow intensity. This keeps underground visibility high without removing shadows entirely.

Optimize for Water and Reflections

Xelvora handles water surfaces cleanly. If shadows on water appear too dark or create confusing patterns, check if there's a water-specific shadow setting in Shader Options. Adjust as needed for underwater visibility during exploration.

Test Multiple Environments

Visit different biomes—forest, ocean, mountain, nether—and observe shadow behavior. Make note of which settings work best for your playstyle. You can always return to Shader Options and fine-tune based on where you spend most time.
