How to Craft Iron and Golden Wolf Armor

Iron Wolf Armor

Iron Wolf Armor sits in the middle of the progression. Mine iron ore, smelt it into iron ingots, and bring them to a crafting table. Arrange the ingots in a shaped recipe that matches the wolf armor layout. The output is one Iron Wolf Armor piece. Iron is common enough that you can outfit several wolves without much trouble.

Golden Wolf Armor

Golden Wolf Armor uses gold ingots instead of iron. Gold is softer than iron in normal Minecraft armor, but the recipe here follows the same shaped pattern. Craft it the same way: gold ingots arranged in the wolf armor shape at a crafting table. The result is one Golden Wolf Armor piece.

Choosing Between Them

If you have both iron and gold, iron is the more durable choice for general exploration. Gold is useful when you have a surplus from bastion loot or nether gold ore and want a spare set. Both are mid-tier and both are replaceable.

Equipping and Swapping

Right-click a tamed wolf with the armor in hand to equip it. To change armor, right-click again with a different piece, or use shears if you want to remove it without replacing. Keep spare pieces in a chest near your base so you can re-arm a wolf quickly after a fight.
