How to Build a Bird Cage Setup

Crafting and Placing the Bird Cage

The Bird Cage is a block used to house small birds. Craft it using the standard recipe for the Bird Cage block, then place it in your base. The Bird Cage works with bird eggs and spawn eggs such as Blue Jay Spawn Egg, Cockateil Egg Spawn Egg, Cockateil (Female) Spawn Egg, Cockateil (Male) Spawn Egg, and other small bird spawn eggs.

Adding Birds

Once the Bird Cage is placed, introduce a bird using its spawn egg or egg item. Birds that fit the cage include:

• Blue Jay Spawn Egg and Blue Jay Egg
• Cockateil Egg, Cockateil Egg Spawn Egg, Cockateil (Female) Spawn Egg, Cockateil (Male) Spawn Egg
• Blue Macaw Egg and Blue Macaw Egg Spawn Egg
• Caninde Macaw Egg and Caninde Macaw Egg Spawn Egg

Right-click the cage with the egg or spawn egg to place the bird inside. The bird will remain in the cage as a contained display.

Related Containment Blocks

For other small animals, use the Rodent Cage or Rodent Cage Block Open. For reptiles, use the Small Reptile Terrarium or Reptile Small Terrarium Open. For insects, use the Insect Jar or Insect Jar Opened. Each container is suited to a different animal type, so match the cage to the creature you are housing.
