Understanding Japanese Weapon Skill Descriptions
Reading Skill Tooltips
When you hover over a weapon in your inventory, the Japanese text will display the weapon's name and its special abilities. Each skill description explains what happens when you perform that attack—such as damage type, range, cooldown behavior, or special effects like knockback or status conditions.
Decoding Common Skill Terms
Look for repeated kanji patterns in skill descriptions:
- Damage-related text often appears near weapon stats
- Descriptions mentioning distance or area indicate AoE (area of effect) attacks
- Text about timing or charging suggests you need to hold the attack button
- References to combo chains show which attacks can follow each other
Using Skill Books
Skill books in your inventory contain detailed Japanese explanations of how to execute advanced techniques. Read these carefully before entering combat—they describe prerequisites like required weapon types or positioning. The translated text will clarify whether a skill needs a full health bar, specific armor, or particular environmental conditions to activate.
If a skill description seems unclear, test the attack in a safe area first to see the effect in action.
