How to Add Storage with Hard Drives

Choose a drive

Two storage items exist: Hard Drive and New hard drive. Either can be installed in a PC case or PC case with glass sidepanel. The drive holds the operating system and files the machine reads and writes.

Install the drive

Seat the Hard Drive or New hard drive in the case next to the 32-bit Motherboard or 64-bit Motherboard, the CPU, the RAM, and the GPU. A PC without a drive will not boot properly, so always include one. If you want more storage, add a second drive to the same case.

Use the drive

Once the machine boots, the drive is where data is stored. To move a build to another machine, remove the drive from the case and install it in the new one. Keep the drive matched to the motherboard already present — a 64-bit Motherboard is the better host for larger configurations. If the PC reports no storage, confirm the drive is actually seated in the case.
