Reduce Lag on Low-End Hardware

Disable Optional Visual Features

Vintage Digital Glow is designed to run on potato setups, but you can optimize further. Open shader settings and look for toggles related to water wave animation, soft shadows, or bloom quality. Disable water waves first if you're near oceans or rivers—this is often the most performance-intensive feature.

Lower Resolution and Quality Tiers

Reduce shadow resolution or bloom render distance if those options exist. Some shader packs let you choose between "Low," "Medium," and "High" quality presets—select Low for maximum performance. This maintains the vintage aesthetic while cutting GPU strain.

Monitor Frame Rate

Use F3 debug screen (or your mod loader's performance monitor) to check FPS before and after each change. Aim for stable frame rates in your target range—even 30 FPS is playable if consistent.

Test in Different Environments

Visit a bright area (sky exposure), a dark cave, and a large water body to confirm performance holds steady. If stuttering persists, disable bloom entirely as a last resort—the VHS effect and soft shadows alone still deliver the retro look.
