Set Up a Color-Coded Fluid Pipe Network
Choose Your Color Scheme
Decide which dye colors represent which fluids in your factory. For example, use blue pipes for water systems, red for lava, and green for potions. This makes troubleshooting and expansion much easier.
Place Colored Pipes
Craft or obtain the colored fluid pipe variants you need. Place them like standard Create pipes, but select the color that matches your chosen fluid type. Colored pipes connect to each other and to standard Create components—they're fully compatible with pumps, tanks, and valves.
Mix Pipe Types by Color
Use different pipe variants in the same color family for visual variety and function:
- Standard pipes for main runs
- Glass pipes where you want to see fluid flow
- Smart pipes for conditional routing
- Encased pipes to hide networks or protect them aesthetically
Label Your System
Place colored tanks or gauges at key points to reinforce which network is which. This helps you and other players instantly recognize the system's purpose without tracing pipes back to the source.
Expand Consistently
When adding new fluid lines, always use the same color for the same fluid type. Your factory layout becomes self-documenting and far easier to navigate.
