Enhance Nighttime Visibility Without Losing Atmosphere
Understand the Default Night Lighting
Vibrant Cinematic Voxel dims the world at night to create atmosphere, but also illuminates caves and dark areas using placed light sources (torches, lanterns, glowstone) and handheld light items. The shader respects your light blocks' brightness values.
Optimize Light Placement
Place torches, lanterns, or soul lanterns strategically in caves and dark structures. The shader's clean lighting pass ensures these sources cast realistic shadows and glow without harsh edges. Use warmer light sources (regular torches) for cozy interiors and cooler sources (soul lanterns) for eerie areas.
Adjust Ambient Light Settings
In shader options, find the Night Brightness or Ambient Light slider. Increasing this slightly lifts shadows without washing out the night sky's color. Avoid maxing it out—the cinematic effect depends on contrast.
Test Your Setup
Build a small underground room with various light sources. Observe how shadows fall and how distant blocks are illuminated. The shader should maintain clear visuals while preserving the nighttime mood. Adjust placement and settings until exploration feels both atmospheric and navigable.
