Reduce Lag on Low-End Computers
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Vfx Simple is designed to be lightweight, but on very old hardware you may still experience frame drops. Open the shader settings and look for the most demanding features: bloom effects, shadow rendering, and sky color processing.
Disable or Lower Intensive Features
- Turn off bloom or set it to minimum—this is the most performance-heavy effect
- Reduce shadow quality or disable ground shadows entirely
- Lower sky color updates if the shader recalculates colors too frequently
- Disable gentle lighting if your GPU struggles with dynamic light calculations
Optimize Game Settings
Beyond shader options, ensure your Minecraft render distance is set low (8-12 chunks), disable smooth lighting if it's separate, and reduce particle effects. Lower your resolution if needed.
Monitor Performance
Use the F3 debug screen to watch your frame rate and memory usage. If you're still experiencing stuttering after disabling shader features, the mod may not be compatible with your specific hardware—consider using an even simpler shader or playing vanilla.
