Improve Shadow Visibility in Forests and Dense Areas
Enable and Adjust Shadow Rendering
Open your shader settings and locate the shadow quality or shadow intensity option. Ensure shadows are enabled (not disabled). Increase the intensity slider to make shadows darker and more defined—this is especially useful in forests where tree canopies create complex lighting.
Optimize Shadow Distance
Some shader configurations allow you to adjust how far shadows render from the player. Increasing shadow distance means more of your world will cast shadows, creating better depth perception in large forests or mountain ranges.
Increase Contrast for Clarity
If shadows still feel subtle, slightly increase the overall brightness setting. This creates stronger contrast between shadowed and lit areas, making shadows more visually distinct without requiring extreme shadow intensity values.
Test in Different Environments
Forests, dense jungles, and areas under tall cliffs will show the most dramatic shadow improvements. Walk around during midday when the sun is high—you'll see ground shadows cast by trees and structures. Visit at sunrise or sunset to see how shadows change with the sun's angle.
If performance drops, reduce shadow intensity or distance rather than disabling shadows entirely.
