Achieve Natural-Looking Lighting in Different Biomes
Understand Biome Lighting Behavior
VerdantLight Lite's path-tracing adapts to different environments. In dense forests, shadows will be deeper due to canopy coverage. In open plains, lighting will be brighter and more direct. This happens automatically without manual biome-specific configuration.
Adjust for Time of Day
The shader responds to Minecraft's day-night cycle. During sunrise and sunset, warm tones naturally appear. At noon, lighting is bright and neutral. At night, the shader reduces brightness to match vanilla darkness while maintaining shadow definition.
Test Lighting in Key Locations
Visit different areas to see how the shader handles:
- Underground caves: Shadows should remain visible without being pitch-black
- Water surfaces: Reflections and light refraction should look natural
- Dense vegetation: Dappled light filtering through leaves
Fine-Tune if Needed
If certain biomes look too dark or washed out, return to shader settings and adjust shadow intensity or ambient brightness. Small tweaks often make a significant visual difference across all biome types.
