Equipping Vanity Items Without Losing Armor

Understand the Vanity Slots

The four items in this mod — Familiar Pants, Familiar Shirt, Familiar Sneakers, and Familiar Wig — are worn in vanity slots. These slots are separate from your normal armor slots. That separation is the whole point: you can change how your character looks while keeping your helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots equipped for protection.

Step-by-Step Equipping

First, craft the piece you want using its shaped recipe at a crafting table. Each of the four items has its own recipe, so craft only the ones you intend to wear.

Next, open your inventory. Locate the vanity slot area, which is distinct from the armor column. Drag the crafted item from your inventory into the matching vanity slot. For example, put the Familiar Wig in the head vanity slot and the Familiar Sneakers in the feet vanity slot.

Repeat for each piece you want. The Familiar Shirt, Familiar Pants, Familiar Sneakers, and Familiar Wig each occupy their own slot, so you can mix and match — wear the full set or just one item.

To remove a vanity item, open your inventory and drag it back out of the slot. Your armor stays exactly where it was the entire time. Nothing about this process consumes or alters your armor, and no experience or fuel is involved. It is purely a cosmetic swap.
