Troubleshoot Low Frame Rates Despite Low-End Optimization
Verify Shader is Actually Active
Confirm VanillaX Shaders is enabled in your graphics settings. Sometimes shaders fail to load silently. Check your shader list and ensure it shows as active. Restart your game if it appears disabled.
Reduce Render Distance
Lower your render distance setting—this has the biggest impact on frame rate. Start at 8–12 chunks and increase gradually until performance suffers. VanillaX's optimization works best with moderate distances.
Disable Unnecessary Visual Features
Access the shader options and turn off advanced features like parallax mapping, volumetric lighting, or high-quality reflections if available. These are the most demanding effects. Disabling them should restore smooth gameplay.
Check Your Graphics Driver
Outdated GPU drivers can cause poor shader performance. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version for your hardware.
Lower Game Resolution
If frame rate remains poor, reduce your game resolution. VanillaX is optimized for low-end systems, but extremely old hardware may need resolution scaling to maintain playable speeds.
Test each change individually to identify which setting has the biggest effect on your specific system.
