Make Water and Wet Surfaces Look More Realistic

Enable Water Reflections

VanillaX's reflection system is its core feature. Ensure reflections are enabled in your shader settings. Water blocks should now show mirrored images of the sky, clouds, and nearby terrain.

Adjust Reflection Quality

If reflections look blurry or low-resolution, increase the reflection quality setting in the shader options. Higher values produce clearer, more detailed reflections but use more GPU power. Balance quality with your frame rate.

Observe Wet Block Behavior

Beyond water, VanillaX applies subtle reflections to other glossy blocks like ice, dark oak wood, and polished stone variants. These surfaces will catch light and show environmental reflections naturally.

Position Yourself for Best Effect

Reflections are most visible when you're looking at water or wet surfaces at shallow angles. Stand near water and look across its surface rather than straight down to see the effect clearly.

Combine with Lighting

VanillaX's modern lighting enhances reflections by creating stronger highlights on shiny surfaces. The interplay between lighting and reflections makes water feel more alive and integrated into your world.
