Make Your Library Look Less Repetitive with Varied Bookshelves

Why Bookshelves Look Different Now

Vanilla Spice Visuals changes how bookshelves render by varying the arrangement of books on each shelf. Instead of every bookshelf looking identical, they now display different book patterns—some shelves have books standing upright, others have them stacked flat, and some feature mixed arrangements. This happens automatically without any crafting changes.

Building a Natural-Looking Library

1. Place bookshelves normally in your library structure. Each bookshelf will randomly display one of several book arrangement variants when placed.

2. Build larger sections to see the variation effect. A single bookshelf won't show the difference clearly, but a wall of 9+ bookshelves will display noticeably different patterns across the arrangement.

3. Combine with chiseled bookshelves for even more visual diversity. Chiseled bookshelves now match the wood tone of regular oak bookshelves, so they blend naturally while adding another visual layer.

4. Use different wood types if your library spans multiple rooms—oak, birch, spruce, and dark oak bookshelves each have their own color palette, creating natural section breaks.

The variants are purely visual and don't affect functionality for enchanting tables or any other mechanic.
