Mining a 3x3 Area with Any Hammer

How the Area Break Works

Every hammer in the mod breaks a 3x3 square of blocks in the plane you are facing. Aim at the center block of the area you want gone, then swing. The hammer destroys the target block and the eight surrounding blocks in the same layer.

This works on stone, cobblestone, dirt, sand, gravel, and most ores. It does not change how drops work — each block still drops what it normally would, so you collect everything as if you mined each block individually.

Choosing the Right Hammer

Match the hammer to the job:

• Stone Hammer and Iron Hammer for general tunneling.
• Diamond Hammer and Netherite Hammer for deep, long mining sessions where durability matters.
• Golden Hammer for fast swings on soft material.
• Nether Hammer for Netherrack and Nether ores.
• Obsidian Hammer for obsidian and other tough blocks.
• Ender Hammer for end stone.
• Prismarine Hammer for underwater or ocean monument work.
• Quartz Hammer for Nether quartz.
• Lapis Hammer, Redstone Hammer, Coal Hammer, Emerald Hammer, Glowstone Hammer, Bone Hammer, Paper Hammer, and Slime Hammer each exist as their own tier or material variant.

Practical Tips

Stand at the edge of a tunnel and aim at the wall so the 3x3 clears the face in one hit. When mining downward, watch for lava and caves below — the area break exposes them fast. Bring a light source and spare blocks to seal hazards.
