Crafting Stone, Iron, and Diamond Excavators

Upgrade Path

Once you have a Wooden Excavator, replace it with better materials as you mine. Each tier follows the same shovel-shaped crafting pattern but swaps the head material. The registered excavators include Stone Excavator, Iron Excavator, Golden Excavator, Diamond Excavator, and Nether Excavator, among others.

Material Recipes

  • Stone Excavator: use cobblestone in place of planks. Cheap and durable enough for early game.
  • Iron Excavator: use iron ingots. Faster digging and much longer durability.
  • Golden Excavator: use gold ingots. Digs very fast but wears out quickly.
  • Diamond Excavator: use diamonds. The best all-around excavator for most players.
  • Nether Excavator: a Nether-themed excavator for players working in the Nether.

All of these are shaped crafting recipes at a crafting table. Keep sticks as the handle in every tier.

When to Switch

Carry your best excavator as your main digging tool and keep a cheaper one for risky areas. Diamond and Nether Excavators are worth the investment once you have steady resource income. If you lose one in lava, you can recraft it from spare materials.
