How to Upgrade an Umbrella to Netherite

Prepare the Rod

Netherite Umbrellas are not made from scratch in a crafting table. They come from a smithing_transform recipe. Start by crafting a Netherite Umbrella Rod — this is the rod item that the smithing recipe consumes alongside your existing umbrella.

Run the Smithing Transform

Open a smithing table. Place your current umbrella in the template slot, the Netherite Umbrella Rod in the addition slot, and the base umbrella in the base slot. The output is the Netherite version of that same color.

For example:

• Red Iron Umbrella + Netherite Umbrella Rod → Red Netherite Umbrella
• Blue Gold Umbrella + Netherite Umbrella Rod → Blue Netherite Umbrella
• White Diamond Umbrella + Netherite Umbrella Rod → White Netherite Umbrella

The color is preserved through the transform. You cannot turn a Red umbrella into a Blue one this way — the dye step happens at the rod stage, not at the smithing table.

Plan Your Color First

Because the smithing transform keeps the color, decide which of the sixteen colors you want before you spend rods. All sixteen Netherite Umbrellas exist: Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan, Gray, Green, Light Blue, Light Gray, Lime Green, Magenta, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, and Yellow. Build the rod in your chosen color, craft the lower-tier umbrella in that same color, then transform it.
