Choosing Between Iron, Gold, Diamond and Netherite Umbrellas

Four Tiers, Same Sixteen Colors

Umbrellas come in four material tiers, and each tier offers all sixteen colors:

• Iron tier — Iron Umbrella Rod base
• Gold tier — Gold Umbrella Rod base
• Diamond tier — Diamond Umbrella Rod base
• Netherite tier — Netherite Umbrella Rod base

Within a tier, every color behaves identically. Color is cosmetic; tier is the progression axis.

How Each Tier Is Made

Iron, Gold, and Diamond umbrellas are produced with shaped crafting: rod plus dye. Netherite umbrellas are produced differently — they use a smithing_transform recipe that consumes a Netherite Umbrella Rod and an existing umbrella, preserving the color of the input umbrella.

That means the practical path is:

1. Craft a rod of your target tier.

2. Dye it to your chosen color to get the umbrella.

3. For Netherite, run the colored umbrella through a smithing table with a Netherite Umbrella Rod.

Picking a Tier

If you only need one umbrella and want it cheap, build an Iron one. If you are committing to a color you like and want the top tier, craft the colored lower-tier umbrella first, then transform it to Netherite. Because the smithing transform keeps the color, there is no need to re-dye at the Netherite step — just supply the Netherite Umbrella Rod and the base umbrella.
