Adjust Shadow Softness and Darkness

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated shader settings key (usually accessed through Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options). Look for shadow-related sliders.

Customize Shadow Behavior

VableVanilla Shaders provides controls to adjust how soft shadows appear across your world. You can modify shadow intensity to make dark areas under trees and structures more or less pronounced. Increase softness values for smoother shadow transitions, or reduce them if you prefer sharper depth definition.

If caves feel too dark despite colored lighting, reduce shadow darkness slightly. Conversely, if shadows seem washed out, increase the shadow strength. These adjustments won't affect performance significantly on low-end hardware.

Test Your Changes

After adjusting settings, move to different biomes and times of day to see how shadows behave. Visit caves with torches to observe how colored lighting interacts with your shadow settings. Save your preferred configuration so it persists across sessions.
