Using the Halo, Mining Hat, and Other Useful Hats in Play

Picking the Right Hat

Each Useful Hats item is worn in the helmet slot. Choose based on what you are doing:

• Mining Hat — wear it while caving or strip mining.
• Aquanaut Helmet — for underwater work.
• Ender Helmet and Shulker Helmet — themed pieces for End and storage-focused builds.
• Wing Helmet — a winged cosmetic for elytra-adjacent looks.
• Halo — a clean cosmetic ring for bases and screenshots.
• Straw Hat, Stocking Cap, Bunny Ears, Postman Hat, Mushroom Hat, Lucky Hat, Chopping Hat — cosmetic variety for builds and roleplay.

Swapping and Dyeing

Because hats share the helmet slot with armor, keep a real helmet in your hotbar and swap it in before fights or deep dives. To change a hat's color, use its crafting_dye recipe: combine the hat with a dye in the crafting grid and take the recolored hat out. The hat is preserved, so you can redye the same piece repeatedly.

Organizing a Hat Collection

Craft each of the 13 hats once with their crafting_shaped recipes, then dye them to a theme. Store them in a labeled chest or armor stand row near your base entrance so you can grab the right one before heading out.
