How to Dye and Recolor Your Hats

Every hat in Useful Hats can be recolored. The mod includes a crafting_dye recipe for each of the thirteen hats: Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, and Wing Helmet.

To recolor a hat, place the hat and a dye together at a crafting table following the dye recipe. The result is the same hat in the new color. The hat is not consumed in the process, so you keep the item and simply change its appearance.

Choosing colors

Use any dye color you have available. Dye a Stocking Cap red for a winter look, a Straw Hat yellow for a farm, or Bunny Ears to match your skin. Because the recipe works on all thirteen hats, you can build a matching set in one color or mix them.

Re-dyeing later

If you change your mind, run the dye recipe again with a different dye. There is no penalty and no loss of the hat, so experiment freely. Keep a stack of assorted dyes in a chest near your crafting table so you can recolor hats whenever you want without a trip to gather materials.
